after 43 years, twenty of which i have spent doing this bike racing crap, i have finally broken a major bone. we think i broke a toe or two in the past, but never got them x-rayed, just buddy taped them and kept on going.
and while new experiences can be fun and exciting and even enlightening, i gotta say, i am not too keen on this one.
something bout that grating sensation when i move my left arm is just....yucky.
oh yeah, and the pain ain't so fun either.

we visited our friends dave and mimi in minden this weekend, since we were there for the geezer champ races. they are dear old friends from our merced days of the long long ago time. they adopted me and fed me and took care of me while bunny was working 100 hour weeks in residency.
well, big brother dave has had his share of injuries through the years. most recently, he rode his bike underneath a deisel pusher motor home on ebbets pass. it rolled right over his shoulder.
so, when we got back to their place after yesterday's crash, the first aid kit was already laid out.

unfortunately, i already had a few pain meds in me, so doc bunny nixed the firstaideritas....
dave's sling fit perfectly though.

weird day yesterday. olaf hit the deck hard in the race before mine, and it wigged me out a fair bit. to say i was nervous at the start line is a bit silly. i was shaking.
but racing calmed me down, us bagboys rode a good race, and i liked our chances heading into the field sprint.
then, i just goofed. not really sure why the tires let go, other than just trying to go too fast through the turn, but there is clearly no one to blame but myself. and damn if i didn't take cwire down with me. i ruined a good effort for us, in a race that we really wanted to win.
appologies, btw, to the other guys i took out. i hope everyone is ok.

thanks to everyone who helped us yesterday, all the bellarifics and bagboys, will b, dave and mimi....hope i'm not forgetting anyone...

Heal quick, Pabcid!
dang! c-bone, I assume? heal quickly. six weeks is just enough recovery time for cross season.
Sorry to see you go down y'day. It was a pretty fun race up until that point. I stopped to see how you were. I had my hand very lightly on your chest and you go "can you get your hand off me, that's where it hurts". So much for trying to make you feel better. Heal fast.
sorry bud.
heal fast and rest up.
sorry to hear you're down and temporarily out, PAB.
heal well and quickly.
crack creme?
the only thing i actually used in this photo was the hydrogen peroxide....and that was to clean the ooze spot pabcid made on their clean sheets despite being on a beach towel
