anticipation....

...with, perhaps, just a bit of apprehension added in....

tomorrow i get one of these installed. i bet it costs more than a new titanium cassette.....

i like the surgeon who is going to do the job. he gets good marks from my #1 source of medical info.
and assuming all goes well and the healing happens the way it is supposed to, the outlook for rehab looks like a tolerable schedule. I should be back out on a road bike in 6 to 8 weeks. and you know i'll be shooting for 6....
but, here is the big thing that has me worried about tomorrow.
my surgery is at 3pm.
i don't get to eat or drink ANYTHING after 7 am.
this could be ugly.

and I bet your surgeon makes a lot more money than your bike mechanic!

good luck tomorrow. I've always been lucky to have early morning surgeries so I didn't have to feel the hunger. you aren't even supposed to chew gum, are you? I guess you could just stay up all night and feast until 7:00am, right?

i like the way they have this huge glamour shot for that chunk of medical metal, like they are actually trying to sell it in catalogues or something.

my dad has a metal thingy in his wrist and he claims to be able to tell when the weather is about to change.

I had a fractured left scapula and then a separated right shoulder last year. Max got me using these, several times a day...

Then you get the colored elastic bands. Then the exercise ball and some studly 3-pound dumbells.

And riding on a trainer every day is important. The blood flow helps the healing and the mind.

I used lots of pillows to prop myself into a reasonable position for sleeping, and keep me there, and lots of triazolam. (less expensive than Ambien CR)

I never knew before how tiring pain could be.

It does get better.
